I had shift in thinking, in being, in 2018. My career had evolved. I was aligned with some of Canada’s greatest companies. Chairing Special Olympics. A board member of the Canadian Olympic Committee. But something was missing. And I didn’t even know it.
I had lunch with John Stix at the beginning of the summer. We talked about purpose and intention, potential and abundance. We talked for hours. I joked with him that I hadn’t talked like that for years and years. A very special connection happened that day. Going through the process of publicly coming out as a gay man 20 years ago, I had spent a good part of my younger life looking inward, struggling to be true to myself.
But as time wore on, the pace of life, the mechanics of business, the responsibility of age slowly took me away from that. I had stopped connecting deeply to ME. But after that lunch with John something in me shifted. By the end of the summer I found myself embarking on a new project that connected me deeply to my purpose. It was completely inspired. Came out of nowhere.
Actually, it came out of a very special lunch with a really great man. Such is the power of John’s connection.
